What a fabulous weekend.

So this weekend we got to hang with Ya Ya and Poppi (although it's never enough time) :(. They were such a big help with the nursery. It's almost done and I love it! Ya Ya has done such a great job pulling everything together. She's very talented if I do say so myself.

And get this...I finally felt the boys kicking from the OUTSIDE of my stomach. Not only did I feel them, but Daddy and Ya Ya got to feel them too! I think they're ignoring Poppi, but I'm sure he'll get plenty of time to wrestle with them when they get here. All in all, it was a fabulous weekend and a wonderful visit with the grandparents. It's hard to believe that the next time they visit we will be a family of FOUR! Whoa...that's deep.

Update on gestational diabetes test: I haven't gotten the results yet. I don't know if they've lost them, or if no news is good news. I prefer to believe the latter. :)

Pic of Madden

We had our follow up appt with the specialist today (MFM), and all is well! Their organs are all looking good (heart, kidneys, etc.), and they both have plenty of fluid. Myles is measuring one day behind Madden, but it's nothing to be concerned about. Madden was moving all over the place the whole time, and when it was Myles's turn in the spotlight, he continued to kick him in the head. Madden was full of energy and a little stubborn when it came to needing his cooperation. We got a cute profile pic of him, and saw him yawning on the screen. It was really cool. I can't wait to meet them! The good news is the specialist didn't see a reason for me to come back as long as my OBGYN does regular growth scans. Although it's a little scary not to be followed by the specialist, it's a great sign that all is going really well. Maybe next time we'll get a great pic of Myles. They're both SO HANDSOME!

The poppi!

Not the most flattering picture of me, but I wanted to add it anyway since it's the first official picture of Poppi and the boys. I'm sure they're smiling with their eyes OPEN unlike their mommy. I wish Ya Ya and Poppi lived closer.

:( Next visit with the grandparents, Labor day weekend! Woop woop!

Gestational Diabetes? I hope not!

I go back to the doc in a week and a half for the 1 hour glucose test. I'm scared of the nasty, syrupy drink and ultimately of the results of the test. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and TRYING to avoid chocolate (VERY DIFFICULT) as much as possible.

Yay for my cervix!

I had a prenatal appointment today, and things are looking good. We heard both HB's on the doppler, one up high on the left and one down low on the right. The doc measured my fundus height, and I'm meausuring a whopping 34 weeks (for a singleton). WHOA. I've officially gained 3 lbs (and 2 of that is baby I might add), so I'm pretty impressed with myself (you can hold the applause). :) My cervix is now up from 2.86cm to 3.2cm. That's a good thing for those of you who didn't know. They like to see it b/w 3-5cm's. If it gets down to 2.5cm, they may put me on bedrest.

We go back to the Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) doc next week to make sure they're still both growing like they should be, and all of their organs look the way they should. The week after that, I go back to the OBYGN again for my glucose test. Cross your fingers I pass. My blood pressure looks good, and I'm feeling better then I have the majority of the pregnancy. Lets hope this lasts.

We have some movers and shakers!

I forgot to add when I first felt the babies. It was (magically) on my 30th birthday. I was working, and at a "discharge party" for a child on my case load who was turning 18 years old and being discharged (happily) from the residential facility in which he had been a prisoner to for the past 6+ months. I was sitting with he and his dad at the front of the room, in front of about 40 other residents and staff members. It was a very proud moment for this kid. He was giving words of advice to the other residents about staying in school, following the rules, etc. when all of a sudden I felt the WEIRDEST sensation in my stomach. It took me back for a second until I realized what it was. When I figured out it was the babies, I had to somehow prevent myself from interrupting the kid, and shouting out to the room full of people that my babies had just wished me happy birthday!!! I literally had to fight back tears (of joy of course). I kept myself composed until it was over, got in the car, and sat waiting and hoping they would move again so I could enjoy it without freaking out this time. Unfortunately, they must have used up all of their energy. :(

After that their movements were kind of sporadic. Now at 23 weeks, I feel them every day (and have for the past couple of weeks). Yesterday it felt like somebody was really trying to get my attention. I pulled my shirt up to see if I could see the movements from the outside, but no such luck. Luckily no co-workers walked by my cubicle, or they would have gotten an eye full of belly. Maybe it's because of all of my extra layers of "fluff?" It sure felt strong, and made me stop in my tracks. It's still hard to wrap my head around the fact that there are 2 tiny humans growing in my belly.

Rod seems to skip over their baby years in his head, and head straight to their older years. He has visions of all of us traveling to MLB and NFL games (GO SEAHAWKS)! He talks about teaching them how to play basketball, and what techniques he wants to share with them. Something about adding some contraption to the basketball goal to make it more difficult and ultimately improve their shot or something along those lines. He's going to be such a good dad. I might need Poppi's help in teaching Rod the rules of soccer. Somehow, we've got to get him interested because he's not all that enthusiastic about it at this point. We have time to work on him. ;)

And she calls herself an amateur...

Beth was nice enough to take some pics of Rod and I today while we were at her house. I love capturing the pregnancy on film. This way we can show the boys how much we loved them before we even met them. :)
